Ozzy Osbourne’s family is sharing new details about the heavy metal legend’s final days. Speaking on the show Great Company with Jamie Laing, his son Jack Osbourne said doctors advised Ozzy not to play his farewell concert because of the physical toll it would take. Ozzy, Jack said, told them he was doing it anyway.
Sharon Osbourne went further in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying six specialists, covering his heart, his Parkinson’s disease, his lungs and other conditions, urged the family to cancel. According to Sharon, Ozzy said a few extra months of life meant little if he couldn’t go out on his own terms. Jack said he isn’t angry about the decision and is heartbroken, but that his father went out the way he wanted.
Back to the Beginning
The show, Back to the Beginning, took place July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham, England, in front of about 44,000 fans. Ozzy performed a solo set and then reunited with the original Black Sabbath lineup for the first time in more than 20 years, on a bill that also included Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer and Mastodon. Sharon said even his bandmates and children didn’t know how much his health had declined. He died 17 days later, on July 22, 2025, at 76.
The concert film
The family’s comments come just ahead of Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, a concert film of that final show, which opens in theaters worldwide as an event release on Wednesday, October 28. Distributed by Trafalgar Releasing, it includes Ozzy’s solo set, the Black Sabbath reunion, tributes from artists the band inspired and behind-the-scenes footage.
